Our story
RUWOYSI — Rural Women and Youths Orphanage Support Initiative — is a non-profit civil society organisation established in 2001 by a group of rural women and youths led by late Mrs. Veronica Garba. It came into existence in response to locally prevalent crises: high rates of drug abuse and poverty among women and youth, unwanted adolescent pregnancy, HIV/AIDS, malaria and other diseases affecting rural communities.
RUWOYSI is duly registered under the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA LFN) with registration number CAC/IT/No. 47431, and develops and implements programmes in children's education, economic strengthening, environmental and water hygiene, health education and social protection for vulnerable children, youth and women.

A message from our Executive Director
As the Executive Director of the Rural Women and Youths Orphanage Support Initiative (RUWOYSI), I am honoured to lead an organization built on the core values of Gender Equality, Equity, and Accountability. Our journey began with a clear vision: to see an environment where vulnerable people can meet the basic needs of life. Today, our mission is more critical than ever. We work tirelessly to train, sensitize, educate, and empower women, youths, and children regarding their social, health, environmental, and economic rights. Whether we are strengthening systems for Economic Empowerment or advocating for Environmental Protection, our primary goal remains the same — to ensure a high number of people in our communities become truly self-reliant.
